Professional Mechanics Providing Electrical Car Repairs in Southampton
MOT Testing Explained

AutoTech Motors carries out a range of garage services. From car diagnostics and engine repairs to electrical car repairs and automatic transmission repairs, our mechanics offer a full range of comprehensive car repairs, car servicing and component replacements. If you’re based in Southampton and looking for a local garage which can offer the same services as a main dealership, then we’re the local business to call.

Did you know that MOT testing has been in operation in the UK since 1960? Devised by the Ministry of Transport, it is a comprehensive examination of a passenger vehicle that confirms whether it is roadworthy and safe to use. It covers most aspects of a car, except for the clutch, engine and gearbox. Nowadays, one of the main reasons why cars fail their MOT is the level of emissions released via the exhaust. This problem is prevalent in older cars and is the reason why petrol and diesel models won’t be sold after 2030. Some vehicles, such as electric and hybrid models, are naturally exempt from this part of the test.  Below, we provide you with more valuable information about the MOT test.

If you want to discuss any of our other services, such as interim vehicle services, diagnostic tests, battery replacements, engine rebuilding and automatic gearbox repairs, call us on 07842 770564 or 023 8225 0595.

Exemptions from MOT Tests

If your car is less than three years old, it won’t have to undergo MOT testing. Vintage motor cars, vans and motorcycles, i.e. vehicles over 40 years old, are also exempt from MOT Tests.

That doesn’t mean you should ignore any issue that may occur during this time. AutoTech Motors carries out garage services in line with existing warranties, operating a customer service which is equivalent to that of a larger dealership in Southampton or the surrounding areas throughout Hampshire and Wiltshire. We pride ourselves on the high standards we set for car servicing, engine repairs, automatic transmission repairs, electrical car repairs and car diagnostics. This gives our customers the confidence they need to drive safely around the local area and beyond.
